RC25 grants two awards:
- The Language & Society Distinguished Career Award
- The Award for Academic Excellence (which replaced the previous distinction between the Academic Excellence Award and the Graduate Student Award)
The Language & Society Distinguished Career Award is granted every four years during the World Congress of Sociology. It recognizes career excellence in the field of language and society.
The Award for Academic Excellence is granted every two years and is linked Language, Discourse & Society, the journal published by RC25. It promotes scholarship and recognizes academic excellence in the field of language and society published in LD&S.
